5 RECYCLED KITCHEN CRAFTS

waste

When food is being cooked, and a family is fed everyday, there is bound to be waste that is produced as a by-product of this. While we do much to ensure that food scraps don’t quite get wasted much (of course by re-using them in other meals), not much is generally done with other waste, things like plastic food wrappers, empty coke/juice bottles, etc.

So we thought, why not show you how to maximize the re-use of this non-biodegradable waste, while making it into something re-purposed and beautiful, and this is what we came up with.

Moms, Aunts and Grandmas just like you, have used their ingenuity and skills to show us how waste increases and remains only because we want it to. By using a little imagination and of course love, ‘Waste can definitely become a beautiful Treasure’.

  1. Throwing away your Cereal Boxes, those that Kellogs and Cheerios come in, is not an option when you can convert them into these colorful CEREAL BOX CLUTCHES. And Alisa shows us how in this demo at http://bit.ly/XALRwD. Now aren’t they colourful and trendy too!

 2. Soda bottles are things that plague every kitchen. Once the party is over and the coke/pepsi is drunk, what remains is something that can be a big headache to get rid of. These SODA BOTTLE FISHES tutorial at http://bit.ly/1naJTZE are therefore a perfect way to re-use them and get your kids involved as well.

 3. Re-usable shopping bags have become a must nowadays, what with shops and establishments making plastic bags chargeable. But then how do you get one? Instead of buying your cloth bag, why not make one with a thick sturdy yet unused shirt/towel you have lying in your wardrobe. Delia gives you details on how to make this trendy CLOTH SHOPPING BAG in this tutorial at http://bit.ly/1naKdHJ

4. Look around you and there are hundreds of things lying around that house that you can re-use. CD’s are one, since the availability of video/music online has made them obsolete. Use these to make some colourful, sturdy CD TEA COASTERS for your table, as shown by Amanda in her tutorial at http://bit.ly/1w9Do2D, instead of throwing them away.

5. A recycled craft we absolutely love is re-using plastic bottles. There are tonnes of stuff that can be done with them. Like these BOTTLED KITCHEN PLANTERS for example. Use them to grow herbs on your window sill, and you will be doing two great things for the environment at once.
